about

Second album by Nebulon - a near-90 minutes continuation of the fantastic and mysterious exploration of the distant star system Sigma Rubicon-VII. Space ambient thematically inspired by '80s sci-fi, with musical infuences from Vangelis, Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schultze, Jim Kirkwood.

---THE STORY---

"After Singularity happened in the middle of the XXI century, in a short time the Earth was turned into a giant, cybernetic industry-ladden world. All land was covered with nanosteel and micro-circuits, leaving no room for life. Humans were selectively transferred to terraformed Mars, where they awaited their further destiny. Only one portion of humans remained on Earth (now called Mother Terra), in a few specially designed biodomes.

Another part of humanity managed to board the giant Arkships, made by the ever-advancing Terran A.I., setting off to search for another home. After they made their exit from the Solar system, the command ports of Earth and Mars haven't heard from them ever again.

At one moment, warps and riffs started to open across space (for reasons unknown, but suspected that it has something to do with A.I. experimenting with space-time quantum computing), and a few explorative arks entered through these riffs, into the unknown. One of these arks N-Z113, led by C.A.Kronus, passed through the wormhole and suddenly found itself in the Perseus Arm region of the Milky Way galaxy. There, they stumbled upon a star system named Sigma Rubicon-VII, with the main star Arcturus Noctae around which four planets have been orbiting.

After receiving mysterious signals from one of the planets (later called Magnus Cerebri), N-Z113 entered the low orbit and sent down a probe to investigate it further. The data transmitted by the probe told that the planet is not suitable for any kind of life, and no trace of lifeforms was to be found, even with the so called "deepscans". After days of silence, another transmission was received from the planet. The signal was in form of a visuo-textual message in binary code, which roughly translated said:

#PLANET 26342#
#BIOPRESENCE DETECTED#
#OPENING MEGA-BIO-SPHERE#
#ENTRANCE ALLOWED#

At first the crew was confused by the message, but then something happened – a giant opening, visible from the low orbit, appeared on the planet’s surface. Thus it was realized that the message was an invitation for humans to enter the depths of the planet.

The hypothesis of humans onboard the Ark, that the planet itself was in fact somehow alive and aware, suddenly became real and plausible. How is this possible, nobody knows. Did the planet somehow evolve into this state of being through the vast eons, with neuronal superhighways forming instead of rivers, making it a giant brain that at some point became aware of itself? Did the possible ex-denizens of the planet at some point merged their consciousnesses into one singular, mega-consciousness? Is it an artificial construct, created by some hyperadvanced alien species? Or something entirely beyond human comprehension? The question begs an answer and the ship embarks towards the planet, to discover the ultimate truth..."
